Alice Cooper recently told the Toronto Sun that his new studio album will be called The Night Shift and that 10 songs are already completed. “The concept is, it’s a really dark radio show where I’m the disc jockey, and every song I play will be by a different fictitious band,” said Alice. “At some point, you’ll realize this disc jockey is a little bit more than that. And I’m sure there will be some kind of a twist ending."

1990 - Floyd Butler of The Friends of Distinction, died of a heart attack at the age of 49. Had the US No.3 single ‘Grazing In The Grass’ in 1969.

1931 - birthday -Lonnie Donegan, singer who launched the skiffle craze. He had a 1960 UK No.1 single with ‘My Old Man’s A Dustman’, plus over 30 other UK Top 40 singles. He died on November 3rd 2002.

Back this week with another classic #1 from Billboard's Hot 100.
This week its "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" by John Denver. His second #1 went to the top June 7th 1975 and stayed one week. This followed his first smash "Annie's Song" in 1974.
The year 1975 was a big one for John Denver, he had 2 chart toppers and won the Country Music Association's Entertainer of the Year Award and the Song of the Year with "Back Home Again".

1990 ACM Awards
Today in 1990 the Academy of Country Music handed out its annual awards in Orlando Florida.
The big winner was the biggest music sensation in years, Garth Brooks and his new country anthem "Friends in Low Places".
Garth would walk away with Album of the Year (No Fences), Male Vocalist of the Year, Single of the Year (Friends in Low Places) and Entertainer of the Year.
