The #1 Album this week in 1981
4 - Foreigner
(4th of 10 non consecutive weeks at #1)
Originally title "Silent Partners" before the band changed the original album cover to the film leader number 4, this would the group's first and only album to top the Billboard 200 album chart. The reached #5 on the UK album chart.
They released 3 singles from the album with "Urgent" being the first and it peaked at #4 (ironic) on the Hot 100. Then came a record setting single called "Waiting for a Girl Like You" which peaked at #2 but stayed there for a then unprecedented 10 consecutive weeks. It was stuck behind "Physical" by Olivia Newton-John for the first 9 weeks and then was leap frogged by Hall and Oates "I Can't Go for That" for the 10th week. After that came the 3rd and least successful single from the album, "Jukebox Hero" which peaked at #26, probably due to the hangover of hearing Foreigner some much the previous months.
