Released in July 1972 this became a surprise mega hit album grossing more money than the film it was the soundtrack too.   The sales of course where boosted by 2 million selling singles in "Superfly", which peaked at #8 on the Hot 100 and "Freddie's Dead" which is at #4 on the weeks Hot 100.
A third song, "Pusherman" was not released as a single but has gained cult following over the years and was named to the list "The Rock N Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll".
