I had just graduated High School in 1985 when this album came out and it was huge and on the radio all the time, it was a great album and the start of the CD becoming the format of the future.
Brothers in Arms was the first album to sell 1 million copies on CD and outsell the vinyl LP version.
It is Dire Straits biggest selling album with over 30 million copies sold worldwide and reached #1 on the UK album chart and spent at total of 228 weeks on the chart.
The album had 3 top 20 singles on the US Billboard Hot 100 with their biggest hit being this weeks #3 hit on the way to 3 weeks at #1, Money For Nothing.
The other charting singles in the US were Walk of Life (#7) and So Far Away (#19). These songs also charted in the UK along with the title track Brothers in Arms (#16) and Your Latest Trick (#26).
They did not reach the top of the UK chart but
Walk of Life made it to #2, while Money For Nothing reached #4.
