Today in 1967 the 9th Annual Grammy Awards were handed out to celebrate the music of 1966. This years ceremonies were noted for the fact that they did not give out the award for best new artist. The ceremony was held in Chicago, New York City, Los Angeles and Nashville TN. The Record of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Performance, male and Album of the Year went to "The Chairman of the Board" Frank Sinatra for his song "Strangers in the Night" and album "A Man and His Music".
Song of the Year (for the writers) went to John Lennon and Paul McCartney for "Michelle".
The Grammy for Best Comedy Performance went to Bill Cosby for his album "Wonderfulness"
