#1 Song of the Week

Well I have been slack in not keeping you updated with your #1 songs of the week, so lets get back at it.

This week from June 8th 1974 its Band on the Run by Sir Paul McCartney.   Billed as Wings this album was recorded in Nigeria because Paul and the band wanted a holiday in a sunny country.  Well, 2 of the members of Wings no showed the flight and then it was the rainy season in Nigeria.  With 2 member gone Paul and Denny Laine did the work and put together what has been called the best of the Beatles solo albums.
The album of the same name spent 4 non consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard Album Chart  and 7 weeks at #1 on the UK Album chart.
The song spent 1 week at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 but only reached #3 in the UK.

What Becomes of the Broken Hearted   by Jimmy Ruffin was a #7 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and was his biggest success on the Pop charts.  However it did get a second life in 1992 on the Adult Contemporary charts, topping that chart for 1 week in Feb of 1992.
