One of the greatest voices in American country music, Don Williams, known to many as "the Gentle Giant" died today at the age of 78. He announced in March of 2016 that he was retiring from touring to spend time at his home and enjoy his family. He passed quietly (like his persona) at his home among family.
He amassed 17 #1 songs on the Billboard Country songs chart and 13 on the Canadian country music chart with his last being "Back in My Younger Days", which reached #2 on the Billboard chart and #1 in Canada in 1990.
