This is, to date, Bon Jovi's biggest selling album with over 12 million copies sold in the US alone and over 28 million worldwide.   This was the bestselling album of 1987 and yielded 2 #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 in "You Give Love a Bad Name" (1 week) and "Livin' On a Prayer" (4weeks).  A third single "Wanted Dead or Alive" peaked at #7.  This is also the band's best selling album in the UK but only made it to #6 on the the UK album chart.
The album did court some controversy with the original album cover (below) that was rejected by the label but used as the album sleeve inside the now famous rain cover.
