This week in 1966, "Good Vibrations"debuted in the Billboard Top 40 at #38, after entering the Hot 100 the previous week at #81.
This was a departure from what the world had come to expect from the Beach Boys and would soon become a classic. This was what Brian Wilson's publicist called a "pocket Symphony".
"Good Vibrations" reached #1 on the Hot 100 the week of December 10th for one week and was their 3rd #1 single after "I Get Around" and "Help Me, Rhonda".
The Beach Boys also got their first #1 single on the Official UK chart with this smash for 2 weeks in November of 1966.
