It dealt with the US involvement in the Vietnam war had a strong anti war message. The title refers to the claim that the average age of the US soldier in Southeast Asia.
This week in 1985 it went to #1 on the UK to 40. Also having reached the #1 slot in most European countries and New Zealand, it only made it to #15 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
