One of the biggest selling albums of the 20th century this soundtrack to the motion picture also had 2 singles reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (both of which are in this week's top 10). Prince won 2 Grammy Awards for this 13 million seller, Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group and Best Album of Original Score Written for Motion Picture or Television Special. The singles to reach the top were "When Doves Cry", 5 weeks in July 1984 and "Lets Go Crazy" 2 weeks at the end of September/October 1984. The title track "Purple Rain" would reach #2 on the Hot 100.
