On this day in 1945 Billboard Magazine published its first chart for the top albums sold in the USA.
The first #1 album was "The Nat King Cole Trio".
These were not the 33 1/3 albums we know today but 78 rpm records. The album chart came to track the top 200 albums and today has adjusted to include downloads in the sales chart.
