Today in 1998 the single "How Do I Live" by Leanne Rimes was certified triple platinum (3 million copies sold).



Mickey Gilley was born in Mississippi today in 1936. A cousin of Jerry Lee Lewis, he took over the country music scene in 1976 with his monster smash "Don't The Girls All Get Prettier at Closing Time". The song hit #1 on the Billboard country singles chart May 1st 1976. He won the Academy of Country Music Awards Entertainer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the Year and Song of the Year for 1976.
